Corinne Ouelhadj Engel: Vice-World Champion of Jams
Living in Florida for almost 13 years, Corinne Ouelhadj Engel, originally from Lyon, has always embraced family, sharing, and gastronomy. After running a restaurant and tea room, she founded Madeleines & Cie in Miami, a business specializing in artisanal jams made with local and organic fruits. Her "fig jam with smoked vanilla" earned her the title of vice-world champion of jam in 2019.
Madeleines & Cie: A Passionate Journey
Each jam is crafted traditionally in a copper basin. Corinne creates unique flavors like "grapefruit with jasmine" and "pumpkin, caramelized apple flambéed with bourbon." Her recipes are often inspired by personal memories and her love for Florida's fruits.
Commitment to the Artisan Community
Trained by master jam maker Jean-Paul Gaucher, Corinne co-founded the Chambre des Métiers et de l'Artisanat in Florida to support French artisans in the US. The association provides tools and support to help them establish and thrive.
Promoting French Traditions
In addition to her culinary creations, Corinne organizes events to promote French traditions, such as Christmas markets and Beaujolais Nouveau tastings. She plans to open a new laboratory and create an artisan fair.
